The Kinetic Rings are both a tactile kinetic sculpture as well as being an interactive toy.
They are similar to a slinky. It is mesmerising to watch. You will find it hard to put down. It is addictive.
When you receive it, the rings will be in a hangsell. They seem to be a flat stack of metal rings that are connected. But touch the rings and they will form into a sphere.
Put your hands through the sphere. You can pass the sphere from one arm to another. To close the sphere again, put your hands on either side and twist.
The rings are a long piece of metal, wrapped through itself over and over, until one end finally connects back to the other. They are made of a carefully balanced single strand of thin metal. The kinetic rings are under tension. So they want to return to the lowest energy state possible. For the kinetic rings. it is the shape of a doughnut with the hole in the doughnut being as small as possible.
If you bend the coils or treat them roughly, the rings may deform and will not handle as designed. Please handle with care.
